Since several patients have been asking me about EMF ( electromagnetic frequency ) and the effect on the human body, I have decided to explain it here. At least this is my understanding based on what I have researched and studied. I have also listed some measures that you can implement to protect yourself from the harmful effect of EMF. I hope you will find it useful.
First of all, what are they?
EMF are electromagnetic energy that emit from all electronic devices, such as cell phones, tablets, laptops, WIFI routers etc
EMFs are also present in nature but they are of a very different kind than what is generated by EMFs used in modern technology. These the main five characteristics:

Humans have never before been exposed to this type of electromagnetic radiation for long periods of times.
Electronic devices like cell phones have only been widespread for about 20 years or so.
As a result, it is only now that we are beginning to understand the long-term health effects of low levels of EMF exposure emitted from these electronic devices.
Current exposure to human-generated electromagnetic fields have apparently increased by 1,000,000,000,000-fold over background levels at end of World War II.
“Cells in the body react to EMFs as potentially harmful, just like to other environmental toxins, including heavy metals and toxic chemicals. The DNA in living cells recognizes electromagnetic fields at very low levels of exposure; and produces a biochemical stress response. The scientific evidence tells us that our safety standards are inadequate, and that we must protect ourselves from exposure to EMF due to power lines, cell phones and the like, or risk the known consequences. The science is very strong and we should sit up and pay attention.” Martin Blank, PhD Author of the BioInitiative Report’s section on Stress Proteins.
EMF is an environmental toxin that impacts the body. As one of the most overlooked toxins, people do not realize how EMFs are impacting them biologically.
An important thing to understand is that: not because you can’t feel EMFs that you are not affected by them.
These EMFs impact our health in subtle but powerful ways, they have adverse biological effects on our cells.
The health of our cells determines the health of our bodies and ultimately how we feel.
This is not just my opinion. It’s what the studies tell us.
The BioInitiative report, on its own, is a cumulation of over 2000 scientific studies that show that long-term, constant exposure to EMF radiation can cause a number of biological health effects.
This a short list of the main findings of biological effects of EMFs:
• genetic effects
• cellular and molecular effects
• behavioural changes
• effects on the nervous system
• impaired learning
• impaired fertility
• metabolic effects
• depressed immune system
• hormonal disturbance
• sleeping disorders
• cardiovascular problems
etc.
One of the most worrying findings that has come out of the studies is that EMF exposures of the type emitted by cell phones cause blood brain barrier damage.
The blood brain barrier is one of our body’s ways of protecting the brain.
It acts as a “protective cellular barrier” between your blood stream and your brain, it is designed to let vital nutrients in, from your blood into your brain, and to prevent harmful things that may be carried in the blood ( like pathogens and toxins ) from crossing into your brain tissue.
If the blood brain barrier is weakened, it becomes more porous and can allow dangerous or infection-causing substances to reach the brain. That’s when damage can occur.
The other worrisome effect of EMF exposure is the DNA and RNA damage they appear to cause.
In August 2009, a paper by Columbia University described how EMFs activate a cellular stress response. EMFs can penetrate a cell’s nucleus and interact with its DNA, bypassing a cell’s defence mechanisms.
A cell is built to protect the DNA, RNA, and protein macromolecules inside it.
Every cell experiences threats, in the form of both intrinsic conflicts and external oxidants, toxins and heat. These can compromise the integrity of its genome and proteome. When this happens, the cell can go into a cellular stress response, with is a big domino effect!
According to Prof Klinghardt this is one of the mechanisms that weakens our immunity and make us more susceptible to viral re activation.
Why Does All This Matter?
Our bodies are not without defence mechanisms. If our body experiences a small amount of damage, we can usually cope with it and the body has the ability to repair itself.
Occasional breaks in DNA are actually normal and can happen through routine exposure to the environment, such as from UV radiation from the sun.
However, if we receive too much damage, or we have a persistent low grade exposure to harmful substances or radiation, it may become difficult for our body’s defences to cope with overwhelming problems.
Here’s how you can minimize your exposure to cell phone radiation:
- Use the phone only when necessary. When you aren’t using a device, make sure to turn it off completely. Even when your phone is locked or your laptop has gone to sleep, devices still emit EMF radiation. Use the Airplane Mode, to turns off radio signal emitted from cell phone or computers.
- Avoid using your phone next to your ear, use a viva voice instead
- Avoid carrying your mobile phone in your pocket, especially bear the pelvic area and breast.
- Don’t sleep with your cell phone switched on at night: Your body needs quality downtime to recover. When you sleep the recovery process is made possible by the release of hormones. Studies show cell phone radiation perturbs the release of these hormones, not only upsetting your sleep pattern but also negatively affecting your immune system.
- At night, turn off your WiFi router since you don’t need it while you’re sleeping, and keep electronic devices out of the bedroom.
